PLASTICS – DETERMINATION OF BURNING BEHAVIOUR BY OXYGEN INDEX – PART 2 : AMBIENT-TEMPERATURE TEST (ISO 4589-2 : 1996, IDT)
MS ISO 4589-2 : 2000
Status : Withdrawn
Format : PDF

This part of MS IS0 4589 specifies methods for determining the minimum concentration of oxygen, in admixture with nitrogen, that will support combustion of small vertical test specimens under specifie ....Read more d test conditions. The results are defined as oxygen index values.
Methods are provided for testing materials that are self-supporting in the form of vertical bars or sheet up to 1055 mm thick. These methods are suitable for solid, laminated or cellular materials characterised by an apparent density greater than 100 kg/m3. The methods may also be applicable to some cellular materials having an apparent density of less than 100 kg/m3. A method is provided for testing flexible sheet or film materials while supported vertically. For comparative purposes, a procedure is provided for determining whether or not the oxygen index of a material lies above some specified minimum value.

HIGH-PRESSURE DECORATIVE LAMINATES - SHEETS MADE FROM THERMOSETTING RESINS - PART 2: DETERMINATION OF PROPERTIES (ISO 4586-2:2007)
MS ISO 4586-2:2007
Status : Withdrawn
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard specifies test methods to primarily determine the properties of high-pressure decorative laminated sheets. These methods are primarily intended for testing the sheets specified ....Read more in the MS ISO 4586-1.
The precision of the test methods specified in Clauses 4, 7 and 11 of this part of Malaysian Standard is not known because inter-laboratory data are not available. When inter-laboratory data are obtained, precision statements will be added to the test methods at the following revision. As all the other test methods have an end point determination based on subjective judgement, it is not meaningful to make a statement of precision in these cases.

This Malaysian Standard also specifies requirements on the properties of the various types of laminate covered by this classification. For several of the properties, more than one test method for checking the requirements is given. These methods have been included to cover cases where the results given by alternative methods are approximately equivalent, where expensive equipment of different types is already in satisfactory use, or where experience is limited to only one of the methods in certain countries.

Requirements are specified for those types of material that are most generally used, but additional types may be added as required. The limit values specified apply to the most commonly used typ
