PAINTS AND VARNISHES - EVALUATION OF DEGRADATION OF COATINGS - DESIGNATION OF QUANTITY AND SIZE OF DEFECTS, AND OF INTENSITY OF UNIFORM CHANGES IN APPEARANCE - PART H6: ASSESSMENT OF DEGREE OF CHALKING BY TAPE METHOD (ISO 4628-6:2007, IDT)
MS 133: PART H6:2008
Status : Original
Format : PDF

This part of ISO 4628 provides pictorial reference standards for designating the degree of chalking of paint
coatings. It also describes a method by which the degree of chalking is rated. In usi ....Read more ng this method, it is
essential that care be taken to distinguish between true degradation products and adhering dirt, particularly

PAINTS AND VARNISHES - COATING POWDERS - PART J7: DETERMINATION OF LOSS OF MASS ON STOVING (ISO 8130-7:1992 (2007), IDT)
MS 133: PART J7:2008
Status : Withdrawn
Format : PDF

This part of ISO 8130 specifies a method for the determination of loss of mass on stoving of coating
powders that are to be applied by electrostatic
spraying on to a substrate.
NOTES ....Read more
I The method described in this part of ISO 8130 is a
simple, practical test which provides sufficiently accurate
results with coating powders that lose up to about
2 % (m/m) on stoving . Above this, accuracy decreases
with increasing loss in mass-
2 Any water present in the product under test is included
in the test result

PAINTS AND VARNISHES - COATING POWDERS - PART J11: INCLINED-PLANE FLOW TEST(ISO 8130-11:1997 (2007), IDT)
MS 133: PART J11:2008
Status : Withdrawn
Format : PDF

This Part of ISO 8130 is one of a series of standards dealing with the sampling and testing
of paints, varnishes and related products.
It specifies a method for determining the flow charac ....Read more teristics of a fused thermosetting coating
powder down a plane inclined at a set angle to the horizontal.
The result of the test described in this Part of ISO 8130 gives an indication of the degree of
melt flow that may occur during the curing of the coating powder. This characteristic
contributes to the coherence of the coating, to its surface appearance and to the degree of
coverage over sharp edges.
The test acts as a useful method for checking for batch to batch variation in the behaviour of
a given coating powder. Correlation between the results from coating powders of differing
composition is not to be expected.
This method is unlikely to yield meaningful results with coating powders which have gel
times of less than one minute at the test temperature when characterised according to
ISO 8130: Part 6.

MS 133: PART J1:2008
Status : Withdrawn
Format : PDF

This part of ISO 8130 specifies a method for the determination of particle size distribution by sieving. It
discriminates between particles in the size range
from 32 pm to 300 pm.

MS 133: PART H2:2008
Status : 1st Revision
Format : PDF

This part of ISO 4628 describes a method for assessing the degree of blistering of coatings by comparison
with pictorial standards.

METHODS OF TEST FOR PAINTS AND VARNISHES : PART F10 : DETERMINATION OF RESISTANCE TO CATHODIC DISBONDING OF COATINGS FOR USE IN MARINE ENVIRONMENTS
MS 133: PART F10:2003
Status : Withdrawn
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard describes a method of test for determining the resistance to
cathodic disbonding of a single coating or multi-coat system of paint, varnish or other organic
coating ....Read more applied to metallic substrates when the surface coating covering the metal substrate
may contain or develop discontinuities. It is applicable to coatings that are subjected to
marine environments, such as those on ships or partially exposed marine structures.
NOTES:
1. For coatings that are used to protect land-based metallic structures, the conditions of the test differ from those for
coatings to be used in marine applications. MS 133: Part F11 describes a method suitable for assessing coatings
applied to buried structures.
2. The test result may be influenced not only by the properties of the coating system under test, but also by the
nature and preparation of the substrate, the method of application of the coating system and other factors.
