This Malaysian Standard specifies extractive and non-extractive systems in connection with several types of instrumental analyser. The following techniques have provided the basis for practical instrumentation:
— paramagnetism (O2);
— magnetic wind (O2);
— differential pressure (Quinke) (O2);
— magnetodynamics;
— zirconium oxide (O2);
— electrochemical cell (O2 and CO);
— infrared absorption (CO and CO2).

Other equivalent instrumental methods may be used provided they meet the minimum requirements proposed in this Malaysian Standard.

The measuring system may be calibrated with certified gases, in accordance with this Malaysian Standard, or comparable methods.

Capability of detection - Part 4: Methodology for comparing the minimum detectable value with a given value (ISO 11843-4:2003, IDT)
MS ISO 11843-4:2005 (CONFIRMED:2023)
Status : 2nd Confirmation
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard deals with the assessment of the capability of detection of a measurement method without the assumptions in ISO 11843-2 of a linear calibration curve and certain relationships ....Read more between the residual standard deviation and the value of the net state variable
NOTE These assumptions are often doubtful for values of the net state variable close to zero.

Instead of estimating the minimum detectable value, this standard provides

- a criterion for judging whether the minimum detectable value is less than a given level of the net state variable, and

- the basic experimental design for testing the conformity of this criterion.

For assessment of the capability of detection, for instance as part of the validation of a measurement method, it is often sufficient to confirm that the method has a minimum detectable value that is less than a given value.

CAPABILITY OF DETECTION – PART 2: METHODOLOGY IN THE LINEAR CALIBRATION CASE (ISO 11843-2:2000, IDT)
MS ISO 11843-2:2002 (CONFIRMED:2023)

This part of ISO 11843 specifies basic methods to:
- design experiments for the estimation of the critical value of the net state variable, the critical value of the response variable and the ....Read more minimum detectable value of the net state variable,
- estimate these characteristics from experimental data for the cases in which the calibration function is linear and the standard deviation is either constant or linearly related to the net state variable.

The methods described in this part of ISO 11843 are applicable to various situations such as checking the existence of a certain substance in a material, the emission of energy from samples or plants, or the geometric change in static systems under distortion.

Critical values can be derived from an actual measurement series so as to assess the unknown states of systems included in the series, whereas the minimum detectable value of the net state variable as a characteristic of the measurement method serves for the selection of appropriat
