Plastics - Determination of melting behaviour (melting temperature or melting range) of semi-crystalline polymers by capillary tube and polarizing-microscope methods (First revision) (ISO 3146:2000, COR. 1:2002, IDT)
MS ISO 3146:2004 (CONFIRMED:2012)
Status : 1st Confirmation
Format : PDF

thus International Standards specifies two methods for evaluating the melting behavior of semi-crystalline polymers. Melting temperatures determined by the different methods usually differ by several ....Read more kelvins for the reasons explained in the introduction.

Method A : Capillary tube

This method is based on the changes in shape of the polymer. it is applicable to all semi-crystalline polymers and their compounds.

NOTE 1 Method A may also be useful for the evaluation of the softening of non-crystalline solids.
Method B: Polarizing microscope
This method is based on changes in the optical properties of the polymer. It is applicable to polymers containing a
birefringent crystalline phase. It may not be suitable for plastics compounds containing pigments and/or other additives
which could interfere with the birefringence of the polymeric crystalline zone.
NOTE 2 Another method applicable to semi-crystalline polymers is described in ISO 11357-3:1999, Plastics — Differential scanning
calorimetry (DSC) — Part 3: Determination of temperature and enthalpy of melting and crystallization.

MS ISO 3127 : 2002
Status : Original
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard specifies a method for the determination of the resistance to external blows of thermoplastics pipes of circular cross-section; it is called the round-the-clock method.

IRON ORES - EXPERIMENTAL METHODS FOR CHECKING THE BIAS OF SAMPLING (FIRST REVISION) (ISO 3086:2006, IDT)
MS ISO 3086:2010
Status : 1st Revision
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard specifies experimental methods for checking the bias of sampling of iron ores, when sampling is carried out in accordance with the methods specified in ISO 3082, having as refe ....Read more rence a stopped-belt sampling method.

It is recommended that an inspection of the mechanical sampling system be carried out before conducting bias testing.

Sampling systems not completely in accordance with ISO 3082 are not always expected to be biased.
Therefore, bias checking may be done when there is some disagreement about the importance of some departure from the conditions of ISO 3082. If one party argues that the bias is likely to be substantial under some particular set of conditions then bias testing should mostly be done when those conditions apply.

NOTE The method for analysis of experimental data described here may also be applied:

a) for checking the bias of sample preparation of iron ores, having as reference the methods for sampling preparation according to ISO 3082

Iron ores - Experimental methods for the evaluation of quality variation (First revision) (ISO 3084:1998, IDT)
MS ISO 3084:2002 (CONFIRMED:2013)
Status : 1st Confirmation
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard specifies experimental methods for the evaluation of quality variation of iron ores for each type of iron ore being traded and for each handling plant.

Two distin ....Read more ct approaches are specified. The first is to analyse interleaved samples composed of a number of paired increments taken and combined alternately following stratified sampling or systematic sampling as specified in ISO 3082. The second is to collect and analyse individual increments and then to analyse the data using variographic methods.

Using interleaved samples involves less work, but use of variograms provides a better estimate of quality variation and hence a better estimate of the sampling variance. The variogram method is usually used to fine tune a sampling operation.

NOTE The experimental methods may be applied approximately to time basis sampling when the flowrate is almost uniform.
