This Malaysian Standard prescribes the good animal husbandry practice for cave Edible-nest Swiftlet ranching. It also sets the minimum requirements for the care and welfare of animal husbandry practice for cave edible-nest swiftlet.
The good animal husbandry practice of cave Edible-nest Swiftlet ranching relates to the upkeep of the establishment. There is continuous improvement and sustainable production of its produce and also ensure that both the operators and birds are healthy, safe and comfortable with no degradation to the environment.
This Malaysian Standard supplements government legislation which, among others cover type of Edible-nest Swiftlet species, type of nest, cave Edible-nest Swiftlet ranching, harvesting, containment sets, type of caves, facilities, tagging and record keeping, transport, import and export, disease control, culling, mercy killing, access of feed and forage and fostering.
