This Malaysian Standard specifies the characteristics of pipes made from crosslinked polyethylene (PE-X) for piping systems intended to be used for hot and cold water installations within buildings for the conveyance of water, whether or not intended for human consumption (domestic systems), and for heating systems, under design pressures and temperatures appropriate to the class of application (see Table 1 of MS 1736: Part 1).
This standard covers a range of service conditions (application classes), design pressuresand pipe dimension classes.
Requirements and test methods for material and components, other than pipes are specifiedin Part 1 and Part 3: MS 1736. Characteristics for fitness for purposes (mainly for joints) arecovered in Part 5 and Part 7 which gives guidance for the assessment of conformity.
This standard and other parts in the series are applicable to PE-X pipes, fittings, their joints and joints with components of PE-X, other plastics and non-plastics materials i
