METHOD OF TEST FOR BAUXITE PART 5 : DETERMINATION OF IRON CONTENT TITRIMETRIC METHOD
This Malaysian Standard specifies a titrimetric method for the determination of iron in bauxite. The method has been chosen to avoid interference from platinum which may occur with the use of platinum crucibles in the acid decomposition procedure.
The method is suitable for use with ores having iron oxide contents ranging from 2% to 50% (m/m).
NOTE. For ores having iron oxide contents < 2 % (m/m) it is recommended that the weight of the test portion be increased to 0.50 g and the strength of the potassium dichromate solution be reduced to 0.00834 mol/l.
