Rubber and rubber products - Determination of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane [Bisphenol A] (BPA) by using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)

This Malaysian Standard provides a method for the determination of 2,2-bis(4-
hydroxyphenyl)propane [Bisphenol A] (BPA) in rubber and rubber products (for example
natural rubber (NR) gloves, synthetic gloves, child use and care articles) by using high
performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique.
NOTE Bisphenol A (BPA) is a carbon-based synthetic compound with the chemical formula
(CH3)2C(C6H4OH)2 belonging to the group of diphenyl methane derivatives and bisphenols, with two
hydroxyphenyl groups. BPA is known to be used as an additive to make polycarbonate plastics and
epoxy resins.
