METHOD OF TEST FOR DETERMINATION OF CATIONIC ACTIVE MATTER IN DETERGENTS - BY DIRECT TWO PHASE TITRATION PROCEDURE
MS 1081 : 1987
Status : Withdrawn
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard describes two methods for the determination of cationic active matter in detergents using the direct two-phase titration procedure. It is applicable to the analysis of cationic ....Read more active materials such as long-chain quaternary ammonium compounds. (benzyl-dimethyl-stearyl-ammonium chloride. benzyl-dimethyl-dodecyl-ammonium chloride etc.) salts of laurylamine, salts of imidazoline, etc.

Both methods are also applicable to solids or to aqueous solutions of the active material. The molar mass of thecattonic active matter must be known or previously determined if its content is expressed as a percentage by mass.

NOTE. Low molar mass sulphonates of toluene and syiene present as hydrotropes do not interfere when present in concentrations up to 1 5% (rn/rn) on active material. At higher levels, their influence shall be evaluated in each particular Case.

Non-ionic surface active agents. soap, urea and ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid salts do not interfere.

METHOD OF TEST FOR DETERMINATION OF TOTAL ANIONIC DETERGENT BY HYAMINE TITRATION
MS 1079 : 1987 (CONFIRMED:2025)
Status : 1st Confirmation
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard describes a method for the determination of anionic detergent by Hyamine titration. It is applicable to the analysis of alkylbenzene suiphonates, alkylsulphonates, alkylsulphat ....Read more es and hydroxylsuiphates, alkylphenolethoxysulphates and fatty alcohol ethoxysulphates in detergent liquids, powders or household cleaners.

The total active detergent is determined if a mixture of sulphonates and/or sulphates is present (see note 1). The mean molecular weight of the active detergent(s) must be known. Sulphonates with low molecular weight such as toluene and xylene sulphonate do not interfere when present in concentrations up to 15% of active material.
