The objective of this section of the standard is to ensure a high standard of safety, performance and reliability of VSAS.

This section of the standard covers VSAS designed to signal the unauthorised opening of a vehicle. It also covers the requirements for the automatic immobilization of the vehicle in case where the immobilizer function is intergrated into the VSAS.

The requirement for the performance of the vehicle security immobilizer system is specified in
MS 1742: Vehicle Security System: Part 4: Specification for immobilizer.

NOTE. The correct installation of a VSAS is essential to it functioning as designed. Guidance on the installation and maintenance of VSAS is given in Section 2 of this standard.
