Environmental testing – Part 2-6: Tests – Test Fc: Vibration (sinusoidal) (First revision) (IEC 60068-2-6:2007, IDT)
MS IEC 60068-2-6:2021
Status : 1st Revision
Format : PDF

This part of IEC 60068 gives a method of test which provides a standard procedure to determine the ability of components, equipment and other articles, hereinafter referred to as specimens, to withsta ....Read more nd specified severities of sinusoidal vibration. If an item is to be tested in an unpackaged form, that is without its packaging, it is referred to as a test specimen. However, if the item is packaged then the item itself is referred to as a product and the item and its packaging together are referred to as a test specimen.

The purpose of this test is to determine any mechanical weakness and/or degradation in the specified performance of specimens and to use this information, in conjunction with the relevant specification, to decide upon the acceptability of the specimens. In some cases, the test method may also be used to demonstrate the mechanical robustness of specimens and/or to study their dynamic behaviour. Categorization of components can also be made on the basis
of a selection from within the severities quoted in the test.

Luminaires – Part 1: General requirements and tests (Fourth revision) (IEC 60598-1:2020, IDT)
MS IEC 60598-1:2021
Status : 4th Revision
Format : PDF

This Part 1 of IEC 60598 specifies general requirements for luminaires, incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V. The requirements and related tests of thi ....Read more s document cover: classification, marking, mechanical construction, electrical construction and photobiological safety.

Each section of this Part 1 is read in conjunction with this Section 0 and with other relevant sections to which reference is made.

Each part of IEC 60598-2 details requirements for a particular type of luminaire or group of luminaires on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V. These parts are published separately for ease of revision and additional sections will be added as and when a need for them is recognized.

The presentation of photometric data for luminaires is under consideration by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) and is not, therefore, included in this Part 1.

Requirements are included in this Part 1 for luminaires incorporating ignitors with nominal peak values of the voltage pulse not exceeding those of Table 11.2. The requirements apply to luminaires with ignitors built into ballasts and to luminaires with ignitors separate from ballasts. For luminaires with ignitors built into lamps, the requirements are under consideration.

Guidelines for limiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields - Part 2: For frequency from 100 kHz to 300 GHz (First revision)
MS 2232-2:2021
Status : 1st Revision
Format : PDF

The main objective of this publication is to establish guidelines for limiting exposure to EMFs that will provide a high level of protection for all people against known adverse health effects from di ....Read more rect, non-medical exposures to both short- and long-term, continuous and discontinuous radiofrequency EMFs. This standard specifies limits of human exposure to radiofrequency (RF) fields in the frequency range from 100 kHz to 300 GHz. The standard is applicable wherever the general public may be exposed to radiofrequency (RF) fields and wherever employees may be exposed in the course of their work. The exposure involved may be in the form of partial body exposure or whole body exposure.

This standard is applicable to continuous wave (CW), pulsed and modulated EMF transmission at single or multiple frequencies within the range from 100 kHz to 300 GHz. This standard does not apply to the following situations:

a) exposure to fields generated by static (0 Hz) sources;

b) deliberate exposure of patients undergoing medical treatment or diagnosis using EMF;

c) exposure of the EMF which may have resulted in other potential hazards, such as, ignition of explosives or flammable gases, malfunctioning of certain kinds of cardiac pacemakers or interference with some electronic equipment; and

d) exposures from devices that generate RF fields below 1 GHz with transmission power line less than 7 W.
