Sampling procedures for inspection by attributes - Part 1: Sampling schemes indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection (ISO 2859-1:1999, IDT)
MS ISO 2859-1:2001 (CONFIRMED:2023)
Status : 2nd Confirmation
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard specifies an acceptance sampling system for inspection by attributes. It is indexed in terms of the acceptance quality limit (AQL).

Its purpose is to induce a s ....Read more upplier through the economic and psychological pressure of lot non-acceptance to maintain a process average at least as good as the specified acceptance quality limit, while at the same time providing an upper limit for the risk to the consumer of accepting the occasional poor lot.

Sampling schemes designated in this part of ISO 2859 are applicable, but not limited, to inspection of
- end items,
- components and raw materials,
- operations,
- materials in process,
- supplies in storage,
- maintenance operations,
- data or records, and
- administrative procedures.

These schemes are intended primarily to be used for a continuing series of lots, that is, a series long enough to allow the switching rules (9.3) to be applied. These rules provide:

a) a protection to the consumer (by means of a s

Sampling procedures for inspection by attributes - Part 2: Sampling plans indexed by limiting quality (LQ) for isolated lot inspection (ISO 2859/2:1985, IDT)
MS ISO 2859-2:2000 (CONFIRMED:2015)
Status : Withdrawal without replacement
Format : PDF

This Malaysian Standard establishes LQ sampling plans and procedures for inspection by attributes compatible with IS0 2859/1 that can be used when the switching rules given in IS0 2859/1 are not appli ....Read more ed, for example, when lots are of an isolated nature.

The plans in this part of IS0 2859 are indexed by a preferred series of limiting qualities (LQ) with a consumer’s risk usually below 10 %, but always below 13 %. This method of indexing permits the “ad-hoc” procedure mentioned in sub-clause 12.6 of IS0 2859/1 to be implemented as a standard procedure.

NOTE - The plans in IS0 2859/1 are indexed by a preferred series of AQL values and inspection levels. During the inspection of a continuing series of lots the application of switching rules helps to ensure that the process average in that series of lots is kept below the specified AQL. Limiting quality does not have the same direct relationship with the process average.

SAMPLING PROCEDURES FOR INSPECTION BY ATTRIBUTES – PART 4: PROCEDURES FOR ASSESSMENT OF STATED QUALITY LEVELS (ISO 2859-4:1999, IDT)
MS ISO 2859-4:2002
Status : Withdrawal without replacement
Format : PDF

This part of ISO 2859 establishes sampling plans and procedures that can be used to assess whether the quality level of an entity (lot, process, etc) conforms to a declared value. The sampling plans h ....Read more ave been devised so as to obtain a risk of less than 5 % of contradicting a correct declared quality level. The risk is 10 % of failing to contradict an incorrect declared quality level which is related to the limiting quality ratio (see clause 4). Sampling plans are provided corresponding to three levels of discriminatory ability.

In contrast to the procedures in the other parts of ISO 2859, the procedures in this part of ISO 2859 are not applicable to acceptance assessment of lots. Generally, the balancing of the risks of reaching incorrect conclusions in assessment procedures will differ from the balancing in the procedures for acceptance sampling.

This part of ISO 2859 may be used for various forms of quality inspection in situations where objective evidence of conformity to some d

SAMPLING PROCEDURES FOR INSPECTION BY ATTRIBUTES – PART 3 : SKIP–LOT SAMPLING PROCEDURES (ISO 2859-3 : 1991, IDT)
MS ISO 2859-3: 2000
Status : Original
Format : PDF

This part of IS0 2859 specifies generic attribute skip-lot sampling procedures for reducing the inspection effort on products submitted by those suppliers who have demonstrated their ability to
....Read more control, in an effective manner, all facets of quality and who consistently produce lots which meet requirements. The reduction in inspection effort is achieved by selecting at random, with a specified
probability, whether a lot presented for inspection will be passed without inspection. This procedure
extends to the inspection of lots the principle of random selection already applied within IS0 2859-1
to the individuals comprising a lot.

Inspection may take place at the supplier’s or purchaser’s locations or at an interface between operations of a production process. The skip-lot procedures are designed to be used with the attribute lot-by-lot plans described in IS0 2859-1.

NOTE 1 The skip-lot procedures specified in this part of IS0 2859 should be distinguished from Dodge’s skip-lot pl
