ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR OFFICE WORK WITH VISUAL DISPLAY TERMINALS (VDTs) – PART 1: GENERAL INTRODUCTION(ISO 9241-1:1997 AND ITS AMENDMENT1:2001, IDT)
MS ISO 9241-1:2005 (CONFIRMED:2023)
Status : 1st Confirmation
Format : PDF

This part of ISO 9241

- introduces the multipart standard on ergonomic requirements for the use of visual display terminals for office tasks;

- provides guidelines for a ....Read more user-performance approach;

- gives an overview of all parts of IS0 9241 currently published and of the anticipated content of those in preparation;

- provides some guidance on how to use IS0 9241;

- describes how conformance to IS0 9241 should be reported.

For the purposes of IS0 9241, office tasks are taken to include a wide range of generic text and data processing tasks. Due to the similarity of these tasks to tasks performed in other environments, e.g. medical, scientific, telecommunications, control rooms and public access, many of the requirements in IS0 9241 are appropriate to these environments as well.

IS0 9241 does not cover electrical safety of VDTs. This is covered by IEC 950.

NOTE - The ergonomic requirements of flat panel displays are covered in IS0 13406-I and IS0 13406-2. More extensive guidance on human-centred design for interactive systems is provided in ISO 13407

CORROSION TESTS IN ARTIFICIAL ATMOSHPERES – SALT SPRAY TESTS
MS ISO 9227 : 1996
Status : Original
Format : PDF

This International Standard specifies the apparatus, the reagents and the procedure to be used in conducting the neutral salt spray (NSS), acetic acid salt spray (AASS) and copper-accelerated acetic a ....Read more cid salt spray (CASS) tests for assessment of the corrosion resistance of metallic materials with or without permanent corrosion protection or temporary corrosion protection.

It also describes the method employed to evaluate the corrosivity of the test cabinet environment.
It does not specify the dimensions of test specimens, the exposure period to be used for a particular
product, or the interpretation of results. Such details are provided in the appropriate product specifications.

The salt spray tests are particularly useful for detecting discontinuities such as pores and other defects in certain metallic, anodic oxide and conversion coatings.

The neutral salt spray test applies to
- metals and their alloys;
- certain metallic coatings (anodic and cathodic);
- certain conversion coatings
- certain anodic oxide coatings
- organic coatings on metallic materials

The acetic acid salt spray test is especially useful for testing decorative coatings of copper + nickel + chromium or nickel + chromium. It has also been found suitable for testing anodic oxide coatings on aluminium

The copper-accelerated acetic salt sprays test is useful for testing decorative coatings of copper + nickel + chromium or nickel + chromium; it has also been found suitable for testing anodic coatings on aluminium.
