Eco-labelling criteria for paper based packaging products
This Malaysian Standard specifies requirements for environmental labelling of paper based packaging products. These requirements encompass aspects pertinent to:
a) Sourcing of pulp (from sustainably managed forests/plantation, agricultural residue, agricultural fibre, recycled fibres, etc.);
b) Environmental friendliness of ingredients used in product manufacturing;
c) Manufacturing process that would give less impact on the disposability of the product.
This Malaysian Standard only caters the primary use of paper based packaging products that are not in direct contact with food. These products are as listed below:
a) corrugated fibreboard products;
b) solid fibreboard products;
c) carton board products;
d) moulded pulp and moulded paper products;
e) wrapping paper and envelope;
f) packing grade tissue paper;
g) other paper and paperboard not elsewhere classified.
