Information technology - Coding of moving pictures and associated audio for digital storage media at up to about 1,5 Mbit/s - Part 1: Systems (ISO/IEC 11172-1:1993, IDT)
This Malaysian Standard specifies the system layer of the coding. It was developed principally to support the combination of the video and audio coding methods defined in MS ISO/IEC 11172-2 and MS ISO/IEC 11172-3. The system layer supports the following basic functions:
a) the synchronization of multiple compressed streams on playback,
b) the interleaving of multiple compressed streams into a single stream,
c) the initializiation of buffering for playback start up,
d) continuous buffer management, and
e) time identification.
