Prosthetic and orthotic devices - Code of practice
This Malaysian Standard is applicable to the Prosthetic and Orthotic (P&O) devices placed for use in human patients for example;
a) Non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, stroke, cancer and peripheral vascular disease;
b) communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis, poliomyelitis and Buruli ulcers;
c) injuries due to fall, road traffic and industrial accidents, natural disasters, war and conflicts;
d) degenerative changes in the spine, hip, knee, foot, ankle or upper limbs;
e) congenital anomalies or limb deficiencies; and
f) cerebral palsy.
This standard is not applicable to any P&O devices placed and used in other than humans.
