1.1 This standard prescribes requirements for
extension plaster, also known as extension strapping
or orthopaedic strapping for use in surgical
dressings.
1 .2 Extension plaster is used for the support of
slight sprains which are not immobilised, of joints
and limbs after the removal of plaster casts, and
of fractured ribs. It is also used for traction
bandaging and attachment of dressings.
