Light electric vehicle battery swapping - Part 2:
Safety requirements
This document provides safety requirements in a battery swapping system (BSSys), for the
purposes of swapping swappable battery system (SBS) of light electric vehicles (LEVs). The BSSys is intended to be connected to the supply network. The supply voltage is in accordance with IEC 60038.
This standard also applies to BSSys supplied from on-site storage systems (e.g. buffer
batteries) and for LEV equipped with one (1) or more SBS. Aspects covered in this standard
includes:
a) safety requirements of the BSSys and/or its systems;
b) security requirements for communication;
c) electromagnetic compatibility (EMC);
d) signs and instructions; and
e) protection against electric shock and other hazards.
This document is not applicable to:
a) aspects related to maintenance and service of the battery swapping station (BSS);
b) trolley buses, rail vehicles and vehicles designed primarily for use off-road; and
c) maintenance and service of LEVs.
