METHODS OF TEST FOR PAINTS AND VARNISHES: PART B7: DETERMINATION OF SOLUBLE BARIUM CONTENT - FLAME ATOMIC EMISSION SPECTROMETRIC METHOD (ISO 3856/3:1984, IDT)
This Malaysian is one of the parts of MS 133 : Part B : Methods of test for paints and
varnishes. Part B specifies the methods of test involving chemical examination of liquid
paints and dried paint films.
This part of Malaysian Standard describes a flame atomic emission spectrometric (AES)
method for the determination of the barium content of the test solutions prepared according to
MS 1431 or other suitable Malaysian Standards.
The method is applicable to paints having "soluble" barium contents in the range of about
0.05 to 5 % (m/m).
Other methods can be used by agreement between the interested parties but this method is
the referee method in cases of dispute.
