Standard test method for environmental stress crack resistance of plastics injection moulded open head pails (First revision)
This Malaysian Standard provides procedures for an indication of the environmental stress crack resistance of plastics injection moulded open head pails, covers, and components as a summation of the effects of container design, resin, manufacturing conditions, field performance, and other factors.
This Malaysian Standard also covers molded polyethylene, open head, self-supporting, nonreusable pails intended for the packaging and transportation of nonhazardous goods. Pails are to have volume capacities between 1 and 7 gal (3.8L to 26.5L).
Two procedures are provided as follows:
This Malaysian Standard may be used to evaluate a container's resistance to mechanical failure by cracking when in the presence of chemical and physical stresses.
a) Procedure A, Specified stress-crack resistance test method
This procedure is particularly useful for quality control since the conditions of the test are specified.
b) Procedure B, User selected stress-crack resistance test method
