PAINTS AND VARNISHES - COATING
POWDERS - PART J6: DETERMINATION OF
GEL TIME OF THERMOSETTING COATING
POWDERS AT A GIVEN TEMPERATURE
(ISO 8130-6:1992 (2007) AND ITS
AMENDMENT 1:1998, IDT)
This part of ISO 8130 specifies a method for the determination of the time for a thermosetting coating
powder to gel at a specified temperature, normally
180 °C.
NOTE I The determination of the gel time is a very
simple method for the characterization and quality control
of coating powders. However, the gel time determined by
this method is not directly related to the time for a coating
powder to cure in practical applications.
The method is not applicable to coating powders
with ultra-short gel times (less than 15 s)
