The adoption of the ISO Standard as a Malaysian Standard was recommended by the Technical Committee on Ophthalmic Optics under the authority of the Industry Standards Committee on Medical Devices and Facilities for Healthcare.
This Malaysian Standard is identical with ISO 8980-5:2005, Ophthalmic optics - Uncut finished spectacle lenses - Part 5: Minimum requirements for spectacle lens surfaces claimed to be abrasion-resistant, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
