METHODS OF TEST FOR PAINTS AND VARNISHES : PART C4 : FREEDOM FROM RESIDUAL TACK (FIRST REVISION)
1.1 This part of Malaysian Standard Method describes a procedure for determining the freedom
from residual tack of films of paints or allied materials, as an indicator of completion of the drying
process.
1.2 In the case of an air-drying material, the test is carried out either after a specified time (eg. 7
days) as a ‘Go/No Go’ test to assess compliance with a specification requirement, or at intervals of
not less than 24 hours until a satisfactory result is obtained.
1.3 In the case of a stoved finish, the test is applied as soon as the film has cooled, as a ‘Go/No
Go’ test.
