This Malaysian Standard specifies design and planning criteria for culverts; which can avert some common problems with culvert design and construction like overtopping, erosion of embankments, siltation, upstream ponding and debris control. It will also avoid the culvert from being inadequate (to carry the designed discharge), unsafe and costly. It does not cover details of hydraulic design or the range of product types available in the market.
