Pillar fire hydrants - Specification (First revision) AMENDMENT 1
This Malaysian Standard specifies the minimum requirements for the design, materials, manufacture, test methods, marking and evaluation of conformity for pillar hydrants for fire fighting purposes, with the following characteristics:
a) sizes DN 100 and DN 150;
b) suitable for an allowable operating pressure, PFA, of PN 16 with or without drain facility;
c) having vertical or horizontal, flanged, socket or spigot inlet; and
d) with two or three outlets.
This standard provides information for ductile iron fittings complying with MS 1919 connecting to the pillar hydrants and typical detailed connections for pillar hydrant systems.
This standard also provides for the evaluation of conformity of the pillar fire hydrants requirements and applies to fire hydrants for potable and non potable water and for filtered water. Additional requirements may apply for other liquids.
Couplings connected to outlets should conform to the fire brigade requirements.
