METHODS OF TEST FOR VULCANIZED RUBBER: PART 40/1: DETERMINATION OF ABRASION RESISTANCE USING A ROTATING CYLINDRICAL DRUM DEVICE (FIRST REVISION) (ISO 4649:2002, IDT)
This standard specifies two methods for the determination of the resistance to abrasion by means of rotating cylindrical drum devices. The methods involve determination of volume loss due to abrasive action of rubbing a test piece over a specified grade of abrasive sheet. Method A is for a non-rotating test piece and method B for a rotating test piece. Foreach method, the result can be reported as a relative volume loss or an abrasion resistance index.
NOTE1 Users of previous editions of this International Standard should be aware that methodA and methodB in this editionhave been changed. In this edition, methodA (non-rotating test piece) with the calculation of relative volume loss (see3.2)corresponds to methodA of the previous editions. MethodA (non-rotating test piece) and methodB (rotating test piece) withcalculation of abrasion resistance index (see3.3) were both included in methodB in the previous editions.
